The students of BS Journalism (Urdu) at the School of Media and Communication, Beaconhouse National University (SMC BNU) embarked on an insightful academic visit to Radio Pakistan and Pakistan Television (PTV) as part of their Urdu Language course turning theory into real world learning.

Dr. Rabia Noor, Assistant Professor and Head of the Journalism & Mass Communication Program at the School of Media and Communication (SMC), Beaconhouse National University (BNU), has been awarded the esteemed Media Studies Travel Grant 2025 for her groundbreaking research on pioneering women news anchors and their role in shaping gender discourse on Pakistan Television (PTV).

Jahan Aur Bhi Hain – Beyond the Blue, Pakistan’s first film on climate change and space technology, premiered May 30, 2025. Produced by BNU’s SMC in partnership with NCGSA, the telefilm features Sarmad Ibrahim Cheema Senior Lecturer as writer/director, Usman Rana Lecturer on sound, and students contributing as key crew members.

On May 21, 2025, SMC revealed its new logo, designed by Mr. Qasim Rishi. Dr. Bushra, Dean of SMC, shared the narrative behind the concept, emphasizing growth and innovation. Registrar Farzana Shahid attended, marking a fresh chapter in the institution’s evolving vision and identity.

The School of Media and Mass Communication at BNU hosted a Design Symposium honoring Hashim Ali’s impact on visual storytelling and set design. The event featured student presentations, a panel discussion, and Ali’s keynote, highlighting the significance of authentic narratives and cultural pride in Pakistani media.

SMC Centerstage’25 was a resounding success, spotlighting the creativity and innovation of students from BS Immersive Media, MS Public Relations and Advertising, BS Film and TV, and BS Communication and Media Studies. Held at BNU, the event showcased final projects that captured students’ academic growth and professional readiness.

The Second Sahafi Summit, organized by the School of Media and Communication (SMC) at BNU in collaboration with Media Matters for Democracy and the Association of Media and Communication Academic Professionals (AMCAP), brought together a wide spectrum of voices from Pakistan’s journalism landscape for a vibrant and timely discourse.

Assistant Professor Nasir Ali Mazari from the Department of Theatre, Film, and TV at BNU has achieved a significant milestone with the official selection of his short documentary "Echoes of Despair" for the Human-Environment Care International Film Festival in Canada. The final year students specializing in Immersive Media at Beaconhouse National University (BNU) recently wowed audiences with their cutting-edge projects displayed in Virtual Reality (VR), Augmented Reality (AR), Gaming, and various other immersive technologies.

Dr. Wajiha Raza Rizvi, overseeing MS Film & TV at BNU, participated in the 17th Annual Fulbright Alumni Conference on Climate Change at Marriott Islamabad. Hosted by USEFP and PUAN. The conference was a concerted effort to confront pressing climate concerns with innovative solutions.
