The School of Education, successfully hosted a two-day Training of Trainers workshop titled “Empowering Voices: Training the Trainers in English Speaking Excellence” on October 16–17, 2025. This training was in alignment with the Punjab Education Foundation (PEF) Initiative — a joint venture between Premier DLC and the School of Education, BNU — to strengthen the pedagogical expertise of English language trainers across six divisions of Punjab.

The School of Education successfully hosted its 1st International Graduate Conference, “Voices in Social Inquiry: Perspectives from Emerging Scholars,” on October 7, 2025. The event brought together graduate researchers, educators, and international scholars to exchange ideas on language, leadership, and social transformation.

The School of Education (SE) at Beaconhouse National University (BNU) warmly welcomed the incoming MPhil cohort of 2025–2027 at its orientation held on Saturday, September 20, 2025. The event opened with a virtual address from the Vice Chancellor, followed by an inspiring welcome from Dr. Amra Raza, Dean of SE.

On September 2, 2025, Dr. Shazia Humayun, Head of the SE-EDx Training Programme and Assistant Professor at the School of Education, Beaconhouse National University (BNU), facilitated a virtual session during the Induction Training for Teachers: Summer & Fall 2025 organized by the Human Resource Development Institute (HRDI), Daffodil International University (DIU), Bangladesh.

Dr. Shahbaz Khan, Assistant Professor and Program Head of MPhil ELM at the School of Education, Beaconhouse National University, was invited by Lahore College for Women University (LCWU) to deliver a guest lecture on ‘Academic Professionalism’ on September 4, 2025.

The School of Education’s MPhil Educational Leadership and Management (ELM) program hosted a research seminar titled “Inclusion for Impact: Transformation, not Tokenism” on June 20, 2025.

Dr. Shazia Humayun led a training session titled “The Neuroscience of Learning: Implications for Teaching Strategies” at the University of Management and Technology (UMT) on June 5, 2025. Organized by the Centre for Learning and Teaching (CLT), the session explored how insights from brain science can inform effective, research-based classroom practices.

Ms. Arumah David, Lecturer at the ELU, School of Education, BNU, curated an inspiring student-led project display titled Reimagining Earth: Student Visions for Sustainable Development on June 3, 2025. The event featured the final research work of second-semester students from the Expository Writing course, primarily from the Razia Hassan School of Architecture.

Dr. Amna Omar (Associate Professor, PU, Institute of English Studies IES) conducted a workshop" From Traditional to Digital: Converting Research Papers into Poster Presentations on May 26,2025 at the School of Education, BNU. Her session highlighted modern digital tools to streamline design and enhance visual impact.

Dr. Shazia Humayun, Assistant Professor in the ELM Program and Head of SE-Trainings-EDx at Beaconhouse National University, conducted a training session titled “Rethinking Pedagogy in the 21st Century Pakistan” at the Sughra Begum Center for Education Policy and Development, Punjab University.

In celebration of Earth Day, the School of Education at Beaconhouse National University (BNU) hosted a compelling session titled “A Cinematic Journey into Sustainability” on May 6, 2025, as part of its ongoing Expert Edge Series. The event featured renowned filmmaker and academic Prof. Dr. Ahmad Bilal, Chairperson of the Department of Graphic Design at Punjab University.

The School of Education at Beaconhouse National University (BNU) hosted an engaging session on May 20, 2025, featuring Vice Chancellor Dr. Moeed W. Yusuf in conversation with students of the MPhil Educational Leadership and Management (ELM) program. Prof. Dr. Amra Raza, Dean of the School of Education at BNU, was invited as a panelist for the book launch of “In the New Century: An Anthology of Pakistani Literature in English”, edited by Muneeza Shamsie. The event, held on April 29, 2025, was co-organized by Oxford University Press and the School of Liberal Arts, University of Management and Technology (UMT).

Under the academic leadership of Dr. Shazia Humayun, Head of the SE-Trainings-EDx Program at SE, BNU, a three-day Writing Retreat was organized for ELM graduate students in Abbottabad. This retreat, spanning on three days, was conceived as an immersive academic experience aimed at addressing writer’s block, fostering sustained writing practice, and refining students’ academic writing capacities in a distraction-free and intellectually stimulating environment

Dr. Shazia Humayun, Head of SE-Trainings-EDx and Assistant Professor in the ELM Program at BNU, conducted a powerful session titled “Celebrating Differences: Raising Inclusive-Minded Children” at the Beaconhouse Bahria Town Campus Conference. The session highlighted the critical role of empathy and inclusion in early education.

Dr. Shazia Humayun, Assistant Professor (ELM) and Head of SE-Trainings-EDx, along with Ms. Naureen Zaman, Assistant Professor (TESOL), attended a two-day workshop titled “Empowering Educators: Inclusive STEAM Tools for Transformative Pedagogy” at the University of Education, Lahore from April 21–22, 2025.

Dr. Amra Raza, Dean of the School of Education, chaired an insightful session titled “The Intersection of Resilience, Gender, and Sexuality in Literature” on April 22, 2025, at Lahore College for Women University. This event was part of the three-day International Conference on Literary Narratives of Resilience: Exploring Resurgence in Global Literature, held from April 22 to 24, 2025. The session brought together distinguished academics and artists to explore how literature articulates resilience within the frameworks of gender and sexuality.

Dr. Shazia Humayun, Assistant Professor in the ELM Program and Head of SE-Trainings-EDx at Beaconhouse National University, conducted faculty training sessions at Forman Christian College University (FCCU), Lahore. The sessions were titled “Teacher Engagement Precedes Student Engagement” and “Preparation for the Class.”

The School of Education at BNU hosted a Coaching and Mentoring Symposium led by Dr. Shazia Humayun, Assistant Professor and Head of SE-Trainings-EDx. The event served as a vibrant academic platform connecting theory with professional development practices in education.

The School of Education at BNU welcomed Fulbright Scholar Dr. Maria I. Khan for a guest lecture titled Learning to Improve: Six Principles of Improvement Science. In a highly engaging session, Dr. Khan shared insights from over fifteen years of experience in educational research and reform.

Ms. Naureen Zaman, Assistant Professor at Beaconhouse National University’s School of Education, conducted an engaging session for MPhil students on sustainability and Education for Sustainable Development (ESD). The session aimed to inspire students to integrate sustainability principles into their ongoing research projects, enhancing their academic relevance.

On March 18, 2025, the School of Education at Beaconhouse National University (BNU) hosted renowned educationist Ismat Riaz for the Expert Edge Series session, “Education, AI, and Technology: An Interplay of Culture, Heritage, Art, Architecture, and Poetry.”

Dr. Shazia Humayun, Head SE-EDx & Assistant Professor in the ELM Program at the School of Education, BNU, actively participated in the 3rd Annual International Conference on Education at Forman Christian College (FCCU). She played a key role in advancing discussions on equitable education by moderating a panel discussion titled "Equitable Education: Innovation, Inclusion & Impact."

The School of Education at Beaconhouse National University (BNU) proudly hosted a seminar under its Expert Edge Series, celebrating "Punjabi on International Mother Language Day" on February 27, 2025, celebrating Punjabi language as a mother tongue in Punjab.

The Centre for Educational Professional Development (CEPD) at City School Head Office hosted the annual Trainers’ Moot 2025 under the theme "Driving Excellence Together." Dr. Shahbaz Khan, Assistant Professor and Program Head of MPhil ELM at BNU’s School of Education, led an engaging session on “Culturally Responsive Teaching.”

On February 20, 2025, Prof. Dr. Amra Raza presented a compelling paper at the One-Day International Conference Pakistani Literature and the UN 2030 Agenda, organized by the Department of English Literature, Government College University, Faisalabad. Her paper explored how Pakistani English poetry serves as a powerful medium for advocating the UN 2030 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Dr. Rabia Rizwan, a renowned gynecologist, delivered an insightful lecture on family planning methods and addressed audience questions on reproductive health. The event, supported by DKT Pakistan — a branch of DKT International, highlighted their efforts in improving family planning and reproductive health since 2012. DKT works to enhance access to maternal services, ensure affordable family planning products, and support healthcare providers. This collaboration reflects BNU's commitment to community outreach and public health education, empowering individuals with the knowledge to make informed health decisions.

Saadia Shahzad, an MPhil Linguistics and TESOL (Semester 3) student at Beaconhouse National University’s School of Education, has reached a significant academic milestone with the publication of her research paper titled "A Speech Act Analysis of Taglines of Brands to Identify Their Cultural Identity." Her work appears in the Journal of Applied Linguistics and TESOL, a renowned peer-reviewed journal in the field.

On November 16, 2024, during the second day of the 40th SPELT International Conference at Habib University, Karachi, Ms. Shabana Ahmed, Senior Assistant Professor and Program Head of MPhil Linguistics and TESOL at BNU’s School of Education, was invited as a featured speaker. She conducted an insightful workshop titled “Critical Pedagogy and English Language Teaching,” urging educators to view language classrooms as catalysts for social justice and transformative change.

Dr. Amra Raza, Professor and Dean of the School of Education at Beaconhouse National University, chaired the session "Emergent Cinema (Nawa Aya Aye Sohnya)" at the International Conference on Cinema and Arts (ICCA 01) – 100 Years of Lahore Cinema. The sessions focused on enhancing operational efficiency and equipping leaders to address evolving challenges in the education sector effectively.

The sessions offered practical strategies to enhance decision-making, manage conflicts, and drive professional growth among district leaders.

Day 1 of the CEO Summit, “Building Capacity - Embracing Change,” laid a strong foundation for empowering educational leaders with essential skills in governance, leadership, and capacity building. The sessions focused on equipping CEOs with practical strategies to navigate the complexities of Punjab’s public education system while fostering innovation and collaboration.

Held from December 30, 2024, to January 3, 2025, the event brought together CEOs of Government Schools of Education from all 36 districts of Punjab.

MPhil Education Leadership and Management (ELM) students from BNU embarked on a study tour to a local private school. The visit provided a valuable opportunity to connect academic learning with real-world classroom environments through data-informed observation and analysis.

Hosted by MPhil Semester 1 students of the School of Education at Beaconhouse National University, this event addressed parenting challenges in the digital age. Through engaging discussions, creative art, and student performances, it fostered awareness and inspired strategies to navigate screen time, bridge generational gaps, and build meaningful connections.

The School of Education hosted a collaborative graduate seminar with the Institute of English Studies, Punjab University, featuring Dr. Amna Umer Cheema, Associate Professor, as part of its "Expert Edge Series"on December 17th, 2024.

The Educational Entrepreneurship class at Beaconhouse National University hosted Assistant Professor Naureen Zaman for a session on sustainable development. Pursuing her PhD in integrating Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) into English teaching, she highlighted the Triple Bottom Line framework—environment, economy, and society—and its relevance to entrepreneurship.

Dr. Amra Raza, Dean of the School of Education (SE) at Beaconhouse National University, was invited as the Chief Guest at the annual EY Talent Melange 8.0 hosted by Early Years Beaconhouse Wapda Town. The event featured engaging performances by nursery and pre-nursery students, including songs, rhymes, and storytelling.

Renowned author and journalist Mohammed Hanif conducted a Creative Writing Workshop. This collaborative initiative, organized jointly by the School of Education (SE) and the Mariam Dawood School of Visual Arts and Design (MDSVAD), was graced by the presence of Dr. Amra Raza, Dean of SE, and Prof. Rashid Rana, Dean of MDSVAD.

The School of Education at Beaconhouse National University has launched a new book club titled Pages n’ Place under its SE-EDx initiative. This platform aims to foster a culture of reading, dialogue, and critical engagement with knowledge across academic and societal contexts.

The School of Education (SE) at Beaconhouse National University welcomed distinguished academics, including Dr. Meng Tian from the University of Birmingham, Dr. Ijaz Ahmad Tatlah from the University of Education, Lahore, and Dr. Naima Qureshi from the University of Lahore, for a productive exchange of ideas and initiatives on November 19, 2024.

The School of Education invited Ms. Fatima Jahandad, an experienced STEAM educationist and Ed-Tech Trainer, currently serving as Manager Educational Technologies at Bahria Town School and College, to engage students and faculty in a session titled “Preparing Teachers to Teach Gen Z and Gen Alpha.” She discussed the needs, mindsets, attitudes, and skills of these generations, emphasizing the importance of understanding their unique characteristics for educators.

MPhil Educational Leadership and Management students from the School of Education visited the Mariam Dawood School of Visual Arts and Design (MDSVAD) and the Razia Hassan School of Architecture (RHSA) to explore how technology is meaningfully used by faculty and students for knowledge construction and skills development.

The Expert Edge Series is a new initiative by the School of Education, featuring a series of talks that invite experts from various fields to share their insights and lead panel discussions on significant and relevant issues.

On October 28, 2024, the senior students of the MPhil Linguistics & TESOL and ELM programs at the School of Education organized a heartfelt Welcome Party and Qawwali Night for the 2024- 2026 batch.

Dr. Shazia Humayun, Assistant Professor and Program Head of Training SE EDx at BNU’s School of Education, invited Mr. Uzair Shahid, Head of Innovation at BNU, for an engaging session with MPhil-ELM third-semester students. The session, held as part of the Educational Entrepreneurship course, aimed to bridge the gap between academic theories and real-world applications.

On October 30, Dr. Shahbaz Khan, Program Head of Educational Leadership and Management at BNU, delivered a keynote address at the High Achievers Ceremony at Beaconhouse School Wapda Town Campus. On October 20, 2024, Prof. Dr. Amra Raza, Dean of the School of Education at Beaconhouse National University, was the Chief Guest at the graduation ceremony for the Beaconhouse School System (BSS), Valencia campus. Dr. Shazia Humayun, Assistant Professor at the School of Education, has been appointed as the Head of SE-EDx, a new training initiative under the School of Education. The programme is designed to offer diverse general and specialized training for educators and leaders at both national and international levels.

We are excited to announce that the School of Education at Beaconhouse National University (BNU) has partnered with Maktab School to launch an ongoing internship program. Non-teaching students enrolled in the course "Managing Learning in the Classroom" will gain hands-on classroom experience by interning at Maktab School, enriching their practical teaching skills.

The Gurmani Centre for Languages and Literature at LUMS hosted the launch of Prof. Dr. Tariq Rahman’s latest book, The Handbook of Mirza Ghalib’s Poetry and Poetics: Commentaries and Contemporary Concerns (published by Springer, New York) on September 26, 2024.

On September 13, 2024, the School of Education at BNU welcomed Mr. Aubrey Curran, an esteemed educational consultant from Australia, to deliver a guest lecture on "Learning Culture in Educational Institutions." With 25 years of experience across multiple countries, including Holland and Japan, Mr. Curran shared valuable insights on enhancing educational environments.

The MPhil orientation for the School of Education’s (SE) new batch (2024-2026) was held on Saturday, September 21, 2024. The event was highly engaging, offering new students a glimpse into the vibrant world of academic exploration and professional growth. Several alumni also participated, sharing insights about their research and journey at SE, highlighting its impact on their professional growth.
