The School of Education successfully hosted its 1st International Graduate Conference, “Voices in Social Inquiry: Perspectives from Emerging Scholars,” on October 7, 2025. The event brought together graduate researchers, educators, and international scholars to exchange ideas on language, leadership, and social transformation.
Dr. Amra Raza, Dean of the School of Education, warmly welcomed everyone and underscored the value of collaborative and inquiry-driven research. Ms. Shabana Ahmed, Asst. Professor and Program Head for Linguistics and TESOL, outlined the School’s vision for advancing academic excellence, followed by an inspiring virtual address from Dr. Moeed Yusuf, Vice Chancellor, BNU, encouraging young scholars to pursue innovative and impactful research.
Distinguished keynote and plenary speakers brought diverse international perspectives to the conference. Dr. Farah Comb (Director, Honors Program and Director Experiential Learning, Purdue University Fort Wayne, USA), Dr. John R. Baker (Researcher and Educator, Faculty of Foreign Languages, Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry and Trade, Vietnam), and Dr. Rokibul Kabir (Director, HRDI and Head, Department of Accounting, Daffodil International University, Bangladesh) — contributed thought-provoking discussions on experiential learning, sustainable academic publishing, and research excellence in the AI era.
Students showcased their work through poster presentations exploring language, identity, and education. The concurrent sessions, moderated by Ms. Arumah David, Lecturer and Dr. Sunnya Khan, Assistant Professor, were chaired by Dr. Mazna Toosy (Assistant Professor, Kinnaird College for Women), Dr. Tayyaba Tamim (Dean, Syed Ahsan Ali and Syed Maratib Ali School of Education, LUMS), Dr. Asma Shahid Kazi (Associate Professor and Chairperson, Department of Elementary and Teacher Education, LCWU), and Dr. Sajid Masood (Professor, Department of Education, School of Social Sciences & Humanities, UMT). These sessions were organized around four key themes: “Intersection of Gender, Language, and Learning,” “Language, Technology, and Power,” “Leadership Culture and Belonging in Education,” and “Effectiveness of Educational Practices.”
The conference concluded with a vote of thanks, reaffirming BNU’s enduring commitment to fostering critical inquiry, collaboration, and globally relevant scholarship.
