Trauma-Informed Clinical Workshop by Dr. Ishba Rehman

The Institute of Psychology at Beaconhouse National University organised a specialised clinical workshop on December 22, 2025, focusing on trauma-informed therapeutic practice, facilitated by Dr. Isbah Raham. The session brought together students and professionals to explore contemporary approaches for working effectively with trauma within diverse clinical and counselling settings across academic and applied mental contexts.

The workshop titled “Working Therapeutically with Trauma” was led by Dr. Ishba Rehman (CPsychol), Programme Director of the Professional Doctorate in Counselling Psychology at The University of Manchester. The session introduced core trauma-informed principles alongside a cognitive behaviourally informed framework, integrating Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) skills to support emotional regulation, distress tolerance, mindfulness, and interpersonal effectiveness.

The highly practice-focused workshop engaged participants through real case discussions, interactive activities, and insightful question-and-answer exchanges with the presenter. Students and professionals examined the application of DBT skills within trauma-focused interventions, gaining hands-on insight into their relevance for day-to-day clinical practice.
