The two-day conference, organized in collaboration with Information Technology University (ITU) and Shahid Javed Burki Institute of Public Policy (BIPP), opened with Dr. Naveed Elahi, Dean NIPP, and Dr. Muhammad Jamil Afaqi, Rector NSPP, emphasizing the need for AI capacity-building among civil servants. Mr. Ahsan Iqbal, Federal Minister for Planning & Development, inaugurated the event, while Sardar Saleem Haider Khan, Governor Punjab, presided over the closing ceremony. Dr. Musadik Malik served as the Guest of Honour.
The conference explored AI’s governance, socio-economic impact, environmental sustainability, and public sector transformation. The second day focused on human rights, national security, and academia–industry collaboration for indigenous AI models. Experts agreed that responsible AI adoption requires ethical frameworks, transparency, and evidence-based policymaking to strengthen trust between government and citizens.
