On 11 October 2025, DLA students Rehman Kabir Khar and Shazeen Saeed were appointed student ambassadors for the Lahore Academic Alliance for Climate Action (LAACA), an interdisciplinary initiative by the University of Lahore under the Center for Security, Strategy, and Policy Research, focused on collaborative climate research and student leadership.
LAACA brings together 10 universities across Lahore to address pressing climate challenges through academic cooperation, interdisciplinary research, and policy-oriented innovation. The initiative fosters critical dialogue on urgent environmental concerns, strengthening institutional collaboration while cultivating informed, action-driven student leadership within the city’s higher education landscape.
Key thematic areas discussed under LAACA include smog and public health, PM2.5 pollution, electric vehicles, climate justice, and sustainable mitigation strategies. The appointment of BNU students reflects the university’s commitment to climate-responsive scholarship, civic engagement, and empowering youth to contribute meaningfully to evidence-based environmental action.
