Rohma Khan, Program Head IEDA, Curates Romantic Provocations at WOW Fest
Romantic Provocations, curated by Rohma Moid Khan, Associate Professor and Program Head, IEDA, at SVAD, BNU, was revisited as a renewed site within the Provocations series, following the Somatic (2022) and Domestic (2023 & 2025) contingents. Presented on the occasion of the 10th anniversary of WOW Fest, Dastak, at the Beach Luxury Hotel in Karachi on the 24th and 25th of January 2026, Romantic Provocations considered romance as a disruptive and generative force between people, spaces, identities, and time. Through eleven artistic positions, the exhibition questioned the agency of romantic gestures, including their semantic and emotive embodiments. In doing so, it moved beyond sentimentalism, inviting and inciting speculative forms of longing and discourse, explored and implored through embodied, sonic, visual, and participatory encounters across geographies and generations.
