Maryam Ali Khan is a researcher and educator specializing in gender studies, digital rights, and policy analysis, serving as Visiting Lecturer at the Seeta Majeed School of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences (SLASS), Beaconhouse National University (BNU), Lahore. Her research interests encompass technology-facilitated gender-based violence (TFGBV), platform accountability, digital privacy, gendered disinformation, and reproductive justice in South Asia.
Maryam holds a Master of Arts in Gender Studies (with Merit) from SOAS University of London, where her qualitative dissertation examined socio-political, religious, and cultural dynamics surrounding honor and shame in Pakistan. She completed her BSc (Hons) with double majors in Economics and Political Science at the Lahore School of Economics, authoring an undergraduate dissertation on the media portrayal of the "Ideal Woman" in Pakistani television dramas.
In addition to her academic teaching and thesis supervision at BNU—where she designed the university's first dedicated Gender Studies course—Maryam has worked extensively in civil society and international research organizations, including as a Research Associate with the Digital Rights Foundation (DRF) and as a consultant for Moonshot. She has co-authored published reports on data privacy, election disinformation, and online hate, and contributed public policy comments to Meta’s Oversight Board.
