Mr. Omar Naeem is a seasoned finance and business expert with 24+ years’ experience in academia, renewable energy, EVs, banking, and corporate advisory. A CFA charterholder and Assistant Professor at BNU, he leads cleantech investments, trains businesses on financing, and consults on sustainable projects and corporate governance in Pakistan.
Mr. Omar Naeem is a highly accomplished and versatile finance and business professional with over 24 years of extensive experience across multiple sectors including academia, renewable energy, electric vehicles, green housing, real estate consultancy, corporate and investment banking, project financing, and trade finance. He is recognized for his deep expertise in financial modeling, investment analysis, project feasibility studies, business plan development, risk management, fintech innovations, and corporate advisory services.
Currently serving as an Assistant Professor at Beaconhouse National University’s School of Management Sciences, Mr. Naeem is deeply engaged in teaching advanced finance and banking courses such as International Finance, Financial Statement Analysis, and Banking Law & Practice. His academic involvement also extends to corporate training and mentoring startups in investment raising, business management, and stock market strategies.
Mr. Naeem’s professional journey uniquely blends academic rigor with practical industry experience. As the Business Development Coordinator and Advisor at the Private Financing Advisory Network (PFAN), a UNIDO, REEEP, and USAID-backed initiative, he has facilitated over USD 15 million in cleantech investments focused on electric vehicles (EV), renewable energy, and green technology projects. His advisory roles span several pioneering companies in Pakistan’s EV sector, including Daewoo Pakistan and Neubolt, as well as solar and energy efficiency ventures.
In addition, Mr. Naeem is an Investor Engagement and Readiness Trainer for USAID’s Investment Promotion Activity (IPA), where he designs and delivers comprehensive investment facilitation programs to enhance the readiness of businesses across various industries. His role involves training on financial modeling, valuation, investor negotiations, and strategic growth planning.
He also functions as the Lead Consultant for Electric Vehicles at Accelerate Prosperity, an investment initiative of the Aga Khan Group, having published the most detailed report on Pakistan’s EV landscape to date. Furthermore, as the Lead Consultant for Solar Financing Feasibility at Forvis Mazars / Blue Orchard Switzerland, he is spearheading important financing strategies for solar energy projects.
Since 2019, Mr. Naeem has been the CEO of Finovania (SMC-Pvt.) Limited, where he provides strategic advisory and consulting services across diverse sectors including real estate, poultry, microfinance, hydropower, alternate energy, and digital education. His corporate governance expertise is also reflected in his role as an Independent Director and Chairman of the Audit Committee at Flying Cement Company Limited, a major cement manufacturer listed on the Pakistan Stock Exchange.
Mr. Naeem’s earlier banking career includes senior leadership roles at top financial institutions like Bank Alfalah Limited, United Bank Limited, and Askari Bank Limited. He has managed portfolios exceeding USD 700 million, closed major syndicated financings, and led innovative supply chain finance programs for leading corporations such as Nestle and Engro Fertilizer.
He holds prestigious qualifications including the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) charter, passed on the first attempt, and a Climate Risk, Valuation & Investment Certificate (2024) from CFA Institute. Currently, he is pursuing a PhD in Finance focusing on financial strategies in the automotive parts sector at University Teknologi Malaysia. His academic foundation was established with an MBA from the Institute of Business Administration Karachi, where he graduated at the top of his class, and a BE in Aeronautical Engineering (Avionics) from the Pakistan Air Force Academy, graduating with honors.
