Dr. Rabia Noor, Assistant Professor at BNU's School of Media and Mass Communication, is an award-winning journalist, academic, and researcher. With over 15 years in media and academia, she specializes in film, digital media, and journalism safety. She has numerous international publications and accolades, including the Jamal Khashoggi Award.

Bio

Dr. Rabia Noor is an accomplished journalist, media academic, and researcher currently serving as an Assistant Professor at the School of Media and Mass Communication, Beaconhouse National University. With over 17 years of multifaceted experience in television journalism, media production, and academia, she brings both practical expertise and scholarly depth to her role. Dr. Noor holds a PhD in Communication Studies from the University of the Punjab and has previously taught at institutions including the University of Lahore, where she also served as Coordinator of the BA Film and TV Program, and the University of the Punjab as a visiting faculty member for postgraduate media programs.

Dr. Noor has held key editorial and leadership roles in prominent national media organizations, most notably ARY News, where she served as a News Producer, Special Correspondent, and Digital Producer from 2011 to 2024. Her journalistic work has focused on social justice, gender equity, climate change, art and culture, and human rights, with a reputation for producing compelling special reports and investigative packages. She was previously associated with Waqt News and Daily The Post, further establishing her strong grounding in reporting, infotainment, and editorial leadership.

A prolific researcher and published academic, Dr. Noor’s work explores the intersections of media, culture, technology, and society. Her research covers a wide range of contemporary media issues, including artificial intelligence in journalism, digital culture, visual semiotics, mental health in media professions, and gender representation. She has contributed to numerous international peer-reviewed journals such as World of Media, Migration Letters, Media Practice and Education, and Journal of Asian Development Studies. She also serves as Section Head of Film Studies at AMCAP, reflecting her continued commitment to research and critical discourse in media and communication.

Dr. Rabia Noor’s career is decorated with several national and international honors, including the International Jamal Khashoggi Award for Courageous Journalism (USA), the Best Journalism Award by Oxfam and the Government of Pakistan, and participation in the US State Department’s International Visitors Leadership Program. As a panelist and paper presenter at major global forums such as UNESCO’s World Press Freedom Day Conference and Oslomet University’s Conference on Safety of Journalists, she has represented Pakistan’s media community on global platforms. Dr. Noor’s presence at BNU enriches the academic environment with her blend of field experience, research insight, and passionate advocacy for ethical and transformative journalism.
