Bio

Prof. Dr. Hafiz A. Pasha, Professor Emeritus and Founding Member of the BNU Center for Public Policy Research (BCPR), is one of Pakistan’s most esteemed economists, with a profound impact on academia, public policy, and economic governance. His career spans several decades, during which he has played a pivotal role in shaping economic policy and fostering sustainable development both nationally and internationally.

Dr. Pasha has served in key leadership positions within the Government of Pakistan, including Federal Minister for Finance and Economic Affairs, Federal Commerce Minister, and Deputy Chairman (Federal Minister) of the Planning Commission. His tenure in these roles was marked by significant contributions to fiscal policy, trade liberalization, poverty alleviation, and economic reform.

An internationally recognized scholar and policy expert, Dr. Pasha holds a Ph.D. in Economics from Stanford University and an M.A. in Economics from Cambridge University, UK. His academic achievements have positioned him as a leading voice in economic research, particularly in the areas of governance, public finance, taxation, and social development.

Beyond his governmental service, he has been a trusted advisor to global institutions such as the United Nations, World Bank, International Monetary Fund (IMF), and the Asian Development Bank (ADB).
