Dr. Farhat Jamil, a Professor at BNU’s Institute of Psychology, is a distinguished researcher and academic with over two decades of experience. She also serves as a consultant psychologist and contributes to academic policymaking and research.
Dr. Farhat Jamil is a distinguished academic and researcher in the field of Applied Psychology, currently serving as a Professor at the Institute of Psychology, Beaconhouse National University (BNU), Lahore. With a PhD in Applied Psychology from Punjab University, she has dedicated over two decades to teaching, research, and professional practice. Her academic journey is marked by numerous accolades, including the prestigious HEC Indigenous Scholarship and the Noor Qayyum Medal for outstanding performance during her MSc. As an HEC-approved PhD supervisor since 2019, Dr. Jamil has mentored numerous scholars, guiding them in exploring critical psychological issues through innovative research.
Her professional career at BNU spans nearly two decades, where she has held various academic and administrative roles, including Associate Professor, Assistant Professor, and Head of the BSc (Hons.) Applied Psychology Program. Beyond teaching, she has contributed significantly to academic policymaking and program development, serving on multiple university committees, such as the Academic Council, Board of Faculty, and Research Committee. She has also played a key role in strategic initiatives like BNU’s Vision 2030 and program evaluation for undergraduate and graduate psychology programs.
Dr. Jamil’s expertise extends beyond academia into professional consultancy and assessment. She serves as an advisor for the Psychological Assessment Committee at the Punjab Public Service Commission and is a consultant psychologist for child and adolescent assessments at Connections, Lahore. Her extensive affiliations include membership in prestigious organizations like the Pakistan Psychological Association (PPA), where she co-heads the Lahore division. Additionally, she has been actively involved in accreditation and selection boards for several universities, ensuring high academic standards in psychology programs across the country.
A prolific researcher, Dr. Jamil has published extensively in high-impact journals on topics such as psychometric assessment, behavioral issues in children and adolescents, women’s health, and quantitative data analysis. Her research contributions have gained international recognition, particularly in areas like coping strategies in women with polycystic ovary syndrome, executive functions in substance abusers, and the impact of COVID-19 on mental well-being. Her work not only advances the academic discourse in psychology but also has practical implications for public health, education, and social development in Pakistan.
Prof. Dr. Farhat Jamil has demonstrated exceptional dedication and expertise in supervising a diverse range of thesis projects. She has successfully guided 21 MS students in Clinical and Counseling Psychology, 2 M.Phil. Applied Psychology students, and 14 students from the M.Sc. / B.Sc. (Hons.) programs. Additionally, Dr. Jamil has supervised 68 research projects at the B.Sc. (Hons.) level, contributing significantly to the academic growth and research development of her students. Her mentorship has played a pivotal role in shaping the careers of emerging psychologists and researchers.
