Dr. Ateeb Gul slass - BNU

Dr. Ateeb Gul is a scholar of religion, editor, and creative writer serving as an Assistant Professor at the Seeta Majeed School of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences (SLASS), Beaconhouse National University (BNU), Lahore. His expertise lies in Islamic Studies, Islam and Gender, World Religions, literary theory, and academic writing.

Ateeb holds a PhD in Religion from Boston University, where his dissertation investigated gender construction and Sīrah-writing in modern South Asia under the mentorship of Kecia Ali, Teena Purohit, and SherAli Tareen. He also earned an MA in Editorial Studies from Boston University under Sir Christopher Ricks, FBA, and completed his BSc (Hons) in Social Sciences at Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS).

Prior to joining BNU, Ateeb served as a BARD Pre-doctoral Fellow and Teaching Fellow at LUMS, an Instructor of Record at Boston University, and an Editor at Oxford University Press. His research has been published by Brill, Edinburgh University Press, and Die Welt des Islams. Beyond his academic work, Ateeb is an award-winning poet and translator whose translations of Urdu literature have appeared in leading literary journals.
