Workshop on Transforming Research into Digital Poster Presentations with Dr. Amna

Dr. Amna Omar (Associate Professor, PU, Institute of English Studies IES) conducted a workshop" From Traditional to Digital: Converting Research Papers into Poster Presentations on May 26,2025 at the School of Education, BNU. Her session highlighted modern digital tools to streamline design and enhance visual impact.

PhD researcher Nida Ahsan (lecturer PU IES) delivered a sample presentation on “Unweaving the Social Fabric: An Aetiology of Epithelialization of the Wounded Self in Omeros," which examined the mythical character Philoctetes’s unhealing wound. She argued that this wound symbolized emotional, psychological, and historical trauma, reflecting societal exclusion of the "diseased" individual. A key part of her talk highlighted leveraging digital tools in our current technological era for academic work. Specifically, she demonstrated using AI image generators to create visuals for her complex research poster. She described giving detailed textual instructions (prompts) to AI in order to produce images representing literary and theoretical concepts. These AI-generated images formed the visual core of her poster design. She then used Canva, the graphic design platform, to assemble the final poster layout professionally. The workshop showcased how AI and Canva offer powerful, efficient, and modern methods for creating compelling academic posters.
