Prof. Dr. Amra Raza Presents Paper at International Conference

On February 20, 2025, Prof. Dr. Amra Raza presented a compelling paper at the One-Day International Conference Pakistani Literature and the UN 2030 Agenda, organized by the Department of English Literature, Government College University, Faisalabad. Her paper explored how Pakistani English poetry serves as a powerful medium for advocating the UN 2030 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

She emphasized how poetry uniquely captures themes of justice, equality, and environmental sustainability, offering a powerful medium for social awareness and advocacy. Divided into two sections, Dr. Raza’s paper first examined poetry inspired by images of marginalized communities and impoverished populations, emphasizing human rights. The second section analyzed poems that act as "photo frames" of the natural environment, depicting waterfalls, trees, Lahore in spring, and oceans, reinforcing themes of ecological preservation. Her insightful presentation underscored the role of literature in shaping public discourse and promoting sustainable development. The conference provided a platform for meaningful discussions on the intersection of literature and global sustainability efforts, with Dr. Raza’s research receiving high praise from attendees.
