The School of Education hosted a collaborative graduate seminar with the Institute of English Studies, Punjab University, featuring Dr. Amna Umer Cheema, Associate Professor, as part of its "Expert Edge Series"on December 17th, 2024.
Dr. Amna's talk, "Rethinking Educational Leadership: An Astro Feminist Perspective," explored educational leadership through the lens of Astro feminism, merging feminist critique with cosmic and futuristic themes. She integrated Karen Barad's theories, highlighting concepts like superposition (embracing multiple possibilities), entangled decisions (recognizing interconnectedness), and the diffractive leader, who transforms interactions into meaningful change by leveraging relational patterns. Dr. Amna, advocated for a culture of accountability, ethical justice, and fluid systems, promoting a dynamic, inclusive leadership model. Her approach challenges gender biases and systemic power dynamics, envisioning leadership that fosters collaboration and creativity. The session concluded with an interactive Q&A and tea for sharing ideas and networking.
