The 20th Convocation at BNU: A Landmark Event in Academic Excellence

The graduation ceremony took place on Saturday, December 20, 2025, at the university’s Tarogil Campus. The venue was beautifully adorned to welcome a distinguished gathering of academics, dignitaries, and families. Presided over by Vice Chancellor Dr. Moeed W. Yusuf, the convocation followed a meticulously planned schedule that reflected the university's rich traditions.

The proceedings began with a solemn academic procession, followed by the National Anthem and a recitation from the Holy Quran. A key highlight was the Vice Chancellor’s address, where he presented the annual report showcasing the university's trajectory of growth. The ceremony was further elevated by traditional academic rituals, including the formal conferring of degrees and the administration of the graduation pledge.

The core of the convocation ceremony was the celebration of academic rigour. A total of 512 graduates were awarded degrees across various disciplines, ranging from undergraduate to postgraduate and doctoral programs. The diversity of the graduating class highlighted the interdisciplinary nature of the university, with students from schools such as Mariam Dawood School of Visual Arts & Design (MDSVAD), School of Computer & IT (SCIT), and School of Education (SE) stepping into their professional lives.

A remarkable feature of the event was the recognition of high achievers through 18 gold medals. Notably, 14 of these gold medals were secured by female graduates, a statistic that underscores the university’s role in empowering women through quality education.

The event was graced by eminent personalities who shared their wisdom with the departing cohort. The Chief Guest for the occasion was the Honourable Minister for Education, Rana Sikandar Hayat, while Professor Dr. Iqrar Ahmad Khan, Chairman of the Punjab Higher Education Commission (PHEC), attended as the Guest of Honour.

In his address, Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat lauded the university for its transformative initiatives, specifically praising the training of 47,000 government school students through the BNU School of Education. The presence of members of the Board of Governors, including Mr. Nassir Mahmud Kasuri, further emphasized the institutional strength of the university.

Beyond the numbers, the BNU graduation was a celebration of individual perseverance. The ceremony highlighted the impact of the university’s generous financial assistance program, which supported over 800 newly admitted students this year alone, ensuring that merit remains the primary gateway to success.

The inauguration of the Wall of Honor was a poignant addition to the ceremony. This installation permanently recognizes the achievements of Dean’s Honor List students and National Talent Fellows. Stories of graduates who overcame challenges through the National Talent Fellowship Program, a fully funded scholarship, resonated deeply with the audience, embodying the resilient spirit of the student body.

This convocation ceremony served as a powerful reminder of the university's growing influence. By bringing together fifteen public and private universities on a single platform for academic partnership, the institution has positioned itself as a leader in national collaboration.
