Professor Sajjad Kausar, a distinguished architect and heritage conservation expert, has led architectural education at NCA and BNU. Specializing in conservation and adaptive reuse, he has advised on projects like Shalamar Bagh. A lifetime IAP and ICOMOS member, his contributions earned international accolades, including an Aga Khan Award nomination.

Bio

Professor Sajjad Kausar is a distinguished architect, academic, and heritage conservation expert with decades of experience in architectural education and practice. His expertise spans architectural conservation, landscape planning, and the adaptive reuse of historical sites. With an academic foundation in architecture from the National College of Arts (NCA) and a specialization in Architectural Conservation from the University of Moratuwa, Sri Lanka, Professor Kausar has significantly contributed to the preservation of built heritage in Pakistan and beyond.

Before joining Beaconhouse National University, he served in various leadership roles at NCA, including as Principal, Head of the Architecture Department, and Director of Interior Design. His vast academic career includes guest lectures, jury appointments, and keynote presentations at esteemed institutions and conferences. His research and publications focus on historical landscapes, Mughal gardens, and conservation methodologies, contributing to national and international discourse on architectural heritage.

Beyond academia, Professor Kausar has worked as a consultant on numerous conservation projects, including advisory roles with NESPAK on the restoration of Shalamar Bagh, Lahore. He is a lifetime member of the Institute of Architects Pakistan and ICOMOS Pakistan, reflecting his deep engagement with professional and scholarly communities. His work has earned him prestigious accolades, including a Merit Award from the American Society of Landscape Architects and a nomination for the Aga Khan Award for Architecture.

At BNU, Professor Kausar continues to inspire future architects with his knowledge, fostering a critical understanding of architectural history, urban conservation, and sustainable design practices.
