Prof. Rashid Rana, a leading new media artist and UNESCO Chair at BNU, has received international acclaim, including the Game Changer Asia Art Award. His work, showcased globally, champions inclusion through art, fostering interdisciplinary learning, regional collaboration, and advocacy for underrepresented communities across South Asia through creative and sustainable practices.
Prof. Rashid Rana, a prominent new media artist, has received the International Artist of the Year and Game Changer Asia Art Award. He holds the record for the most expensive artwork sold by a Pakistani artist and was the first living artist to have a solo survey exhibition at the Muse Guimet, Paris. Featured in The Treasures of the World exhibit at the National Museum of Singapore, his works are in renowned collections like the British Museum and Metropolitan Museum.
Prof. Rashid is the Chairholder for UNESCO on ‘Inclusion through Art,’ at BNU. The UNESCO Chair, established under the UNITWIN/UNESCO Chairs Programme, underscores BNU’s commitment to advancing education, research, and community engagement in the arts, focusing on inclusion and sustainability. The Chair aims to create opportunities for interdisciplinary learning, foster creative collaborations across South Asia, and advocate for practices that benefit diverse and underrepresented communities.
