Dr. Ruhi Khalid, Director of the Institute of Psychology at Beaconhouse National University, holds a Ph.D. from the University of Glasgow. A Fulbright Postdoctoral Scholar, she specializes in social, health, and gender psychology. With over 100 publications, she has significantly contributed to academic curriculum development, psychometric research, and professional mental health training.
Dr. Ruhi Khalid is the Director of the Institute of Psychology at Beaconhouse National University, Lahore. Previously, she served as Chairperson of the Department of Applied Psychology at Punjab University and Associate Dean of the Faculty of Life Sciences. She earned her Ph.D. in Psychology from the University of Glasgow in 1986, having been awarded a Central Overseas Scholarship by the Government of Punjab. As a Fulbright Postdoctoral Scholar (1997–1998), she was a Visiting Fellow at the University of Pittsburgh, USA.
Dr. Khalid’s research spans multiple domains, including social, health, clinical, developmental, and gender psychology. She has received specialized training in therapeutic interventions for victims of violent crimes, sexual assault counseling, and victim assistance for abused women and children from esteemed institutions in Pittsburgh, USA. From 2001 to 2004, she facilitated a Higher Educational Link under DFID between her department and University College London’s Department of Clinical and Health Psychology. Her psychometric tools are widely recognized and utilized by researchers worldwide.
A distinguished academic, Dr. Khalid has played a transformative role in psychology and applied psychology, contributing to curriculum development for undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral programs, as well as Gender Studies. She is an active member of prestigious organizations such as the British Psychological Society and the American Psychological Association and serves on the Punjab Healthcare Commission and the Mental Health Authority. She has organized numerous national and international seminars, webinars, and conferences and sits on the editorial boards of leading scientific journals. With over 100 research publications, she has supervised several Ph.D. candidates and consults for mental health organizations supporting individuals with special needs. In recognition of her exceptional contributions to academia, the Higher Education Commission of Pakistan honored her in 2005.
