Muhammad Naveed Aasim is an Assistant Professor of VFX and Immersive Media at Beaconhouse National University (BNU), Lahore, with an MSc in Digital Visual Effects from the University of Kent, UK. With 15+ years of industry experience and 6+ years in academia, he specializes in Game Design, Animation, and Virtual Reality. Recently shortlisted for the Most Innovative Teacher of the Year Award at the Times Higher Education (THE) Awards Asia 2025, Naveed is recognized for transforming the VFX curriculum and promoting a student-centered learning environment. As Degree Head of BS Communication & Immersive Media and BNU Connect Lead, he bridges academia and industry to inspire future digital artists.

Bio

Muhammad Naveed Aasim is an academic and industry professional, currently serving as an Assistant Professor of VFX and Immersive Media at Beaconhouse National University (BNU), Lahore. With an MSc in Digital Visual Effects from the University of Kent, UK, and a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Naveed brings over 15 years of industry experience and 6+ years of academic expertise to his role. He specializes in Game Design, Animation, Virtual Reality, and Visual Effects, and has played a pivotal role in transforming the Digital Visual Effects (VFX) curriculum at BNU.

Naveed’s innovative teaching methods and dedication to student success have earned him recognition as a finalist for the Most Innovative Teacher of the Year Award at the Times Higher Education (THE) Awards Asia 2025, selected from over 500 entries across Asia. He is the only Pakistani finalist in this prestigious category, a testament to his commitment to creating a dynamic, student-centered learning environment. As the Degree Head of BS Communication & Immersive Media and the Lead of BNU Connect, Naveed has fostered collaboration among students and faculty, bridging the gap between academia and industry.

Beyond teaching, Naveed has contributed to Pakistan’s National Curriculum Development, ensuring high-quality education standards. His passion for mentoring students and his expertise in curriculum design, classroom management, and immersive media make him a valuable asset to BNU and the broader academic community.

Leadership & Entrepreneurship Initiatives

  • Lead, BNU-Connect (2023–Present) – Launched an innovative platform, BNU-Connect, to foster collaboration among students from various schools at BNU, promoting a strong sense of community on campus. Currently, students from four schools are working together on Final Year Projects (FYPs) under this initiative.
  • Guest Lecture on Tech Startup (2023) – Organized a university-wide guest lecture on "Navigating Career Pathways: Tech Startup?" by Mr. Vic Ahmed, Founder and CEO of Innovation Pavilion, a Colorado-based incubator housing 42 startup companies.
  • Workshops on Entrepreneurship (2023) – Conducted a series of entrepreneurship workshops to help students turn their visions into tangible business opportunities. These workshops were specifically designed for students in the BS Communication and Immersive Media program at BNU.
