Dr. Atif Hassan is a seasoned academic with over 22 years of experience in management and hospitality education. A PhD in Management, he has held key leadership roles, published extensively, and fostered global academic partnerships. He is the Founding Head of Hospitality Management at Beaconhouse National University, Pakistan.

Bio

Prof. Dr. Atif Hassan is a distinguished academic, researcher, and educational leader with over 22 years of experience in higher education and management. Currently serving as Professor and Founding Head of the Department of Hospitality Management at the School of Management Sciences, Beaconhouse National University (BNU), Pakistan, he also leads the HR & Management Cluster. His academic journey reflects a remarkable blend of leadership, innovation, and global exposure in the fields of business and hospitality management.

He completed his PhD in Management from Ifugao State University, Philippines, in 2014 with a focus on the gap between theory and practice in business management. Dr. Hassan holds a Master of Philosophy from the University of Karachi and a Bachelor of Science from Bahauddin Zakariya University. His academic pursuits were further enriched through a Post-Doctoral Fellowship in Business Management at AIMST University, Malaysia, and the prestigious Excellence in Teaching and Research Fellowship awarded by George Mason University, USA in 2016. Most recently, he pursued Executive Master’s programs in both Hospitality & Tourism Management (2024, UK) and Business Administration (2010, Pakistan).

Dr. Hassan’s teaching and research interests span a wide array of domains including Business Administration, Organizational Behavior, Human Resource Management, Strategic Management, Hospitality Management, and Management Information Systems. His professional certifications include Certified Hospitality Professional (CHP) from the Institute of Tourism and Hospitality Professional (UK), Intel Master Teacher, and Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer.

Before joining BNU, Dr. Hassan was the Dean of the Hashoo School of Hospitality Management, affiliated with Sheffield Hallam University, UK. He played a foundational role in developing the school’s academic infrastructure, forging industry collaborations, and ensuring strong academic quality through global partnerships. He also held key leadership roles at the University of Management and Technology (UMT), Pakistan, where he served as Associate Professor, Director of the School of Professional Advancement, and Chair of the Department of Management.

Earlier in his career, he served as Assistant Professor and Program Coordinator at DHA Suffa University, where he also managed foreign collaborations. His international academic contributions include teaching Strategic Management to cross-border students in Malaysia under Kanagawa University, Japan.

Dr. Hassan is widely published with 34 refereed journal articles, 15 conference and seminar contributions, and over 30 thought pieces in magazines and newspapers. His research has been cited over 475 times, with an h-index of 10 and an i10-index of 9, reflecting significant academic influence. His scholarship addresses critical areas like ethical leadership, organizational learning, innovation, emotional intelligence, job security, and the evolving dynamics of the hospitality industry.

In addition to his academic accomplishments, Dr. Hassan has successfully built partnerships with international universities, including the University of South Florida (USA) and the Confederation of Tourism and Hospitality (UK). He has been instrumental in curriculum development, industry-academia linkage, student practicum design, and policy formation. As an approved PhD supervisor by the Higher Education Commission of Pakistan, Asia e University (Malaysia), and Malaysia University of Science and Technology (MUST), he continues to guide doctoral candidates and shape future researchers.
