Mental Health Week Sheds Light on HIV/AIDS Awareness

In a concerted effort to address the pressing issues of mental health and HIV/AIDS awareness, the Institute of Psychology at Beaconhouse National University (BNU) organized a transformative Mental Health Week in collaboration with the Punjab AIDS Control Program. This year's theme underscored the importance of addressing mental health concerns within the context of HIV/AIDS. As part of the initiative, Inter-University and Inter-Schools/Colleges Poster Competitions were organized in partnership with the BNU Wellbeing Society and the Institute of Psychology, BNU, on April 29, 2024. Distinguished guests graced the occasion, with the President of the Pakistan Psychological Association, Prof. Dr. Rafia Rafique, serving as the Chief Guest. Accompanying her were esteemed personalities including Dr. Ruhi Khalid, Director of the Institute of Psychology, BNU, Ms. Khadeja Tahir, Lecturer/Coordinator of BNU Wellbeing Society, and Associate Prof. Dr. Farhat Nadeem. Adding to the honor, Dr. Sofia Bilal, Program Director of PACP, and Mr. M. Shoaib Akram, Communication Officer, lent their presence as Guests of Honor. The event's magnitude catalyzed substantial awareness about HIV/AIDS among students and faculty members from over 30 educational institutions. This heightened awareness promises not only to educate the youth but also to foster positive attitudes and behaviors towards people living with HIV.
