Hosts Hackathon on "Urban Innovation and Environmental Conservation"

Beaconhouse National University's (BNU) School of Computer and Information Technology (SCIT) recently organized the "Urban Innovation and Environmental Conservation" hackathon as part of the 2024 design summit. The event, held on March 9, 2024, saw enthusiastic participation from over 50 students, including final year and third-year students from the SCIT department. We are thrilled to announce and celebrate the remarkable achievements of the students who emerged as winners of the hackathon. Congratulations to Hasnain Ahmed, Wahab Semi, and Amber Razzaq for their outstanding accomplishments and dedication to excellence in the realm of "Urban Innovation and Environmental Conservation." The success of the hackathon would not have been possible without the guidance and support of esteemed individuals who contributed their expertise to the event. Dr. Nauman Shahid, leading the Sensor Systems Team at Qualcomm Ireland, brought his specialization in low-power edge AI, machine learning (ML), and digital signal processing (DSP) algorithms to enrich the event. Aqeel Arshad, a seasoned "Staff Engineer" at ams-osram, shared his expertise in optical sensors and his passion for IoT and social initiatives. Additionally, the valuable contributions of faculty members from BNU played a significant role in shaping the success of the hackathon. Usman Nazir, an Assistant Professor specializing in machine learning and computer vision for socio-economic insights, provided invaluable guidance and support to the participating students. Nimra Abbass, a lecturer at BNU with expertise in machine learning, data mining, and information retrieval, also contributed her expertise to enhance the learning experience of the participants. The hackathon not only provided students with a platform to showcase their technical skills and creativity but also fostered collaboration and innovation in addressing real-world challenges related to urban innovation and environmental conservation. BNU extends its heartfelt congratulations to all participants and expresses gratitude to the faculty and industry experts for their invaluable contributions to the success of the event. We look forward to witnessing more innovative initiatives and accomplishments from our talented students in the future.
