Debating Society Hosts Rang-e-Shayri

Beaconhouse National University's Debating Society recently mesmerized audiences with an enchanting evening of Rang-e-Shaiyri, showcasing classical Urdu poetry and celebrating the rich cultural heritage of Pakistan. The event served as an interuniversity Urdu Poetry competition, drawing participants from various private and public sectors in Lahore, including KEMU, LUMS, GCUL, FCCU, UCP, Govt. M.A.O College, and others. Students from across Lahore came together to revel in the timeless art of shaiyri, weaving a vibrant cultural tapestry with their heartfelt renditions of classical Urdu poetry. The event provided a platform for participants to showcase their remarkable talent and passion for Urdu literature, captivating the audience with their eloquence and poetic expressions. In a fiercely contested competition, Hanzala Shahid emerged victorious, securing the 1st position as a private candidate. Muhammad Ammar Saeed from BNU claimed the 2nd position, while Ali Noor Mohsin from Rahbar Medical and Dental College clinched the 3rd position, showcasing their prowess in the art of Urdu poetry. A special highlight of the evening was the presence of esteemed guests, including Dr. Uzma Zareen Nazia, Associate Professor in the Persian Department at Oriental College, University of Punjab, Lahore, and Ms. Farhat Perveen, a renowned poetess and Urdu language activist in Pakistan and the USA. Their passionate words and profound insights left an indelible mark on the hearts of the attendees, further enriching the cultural experience of the event. The Rang-e-Shaiyri evening organized by the BNU Debating Society exemplified the university's commitment to promoting Urdu literature and providing a platform for artistic expression.
