Basir Mahmood, an MDSVAD alumnus o, continues to garner international acclaim for his exemplary work as a visual artist. Graduating from BNU with a Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) in Visual Arts in 2010, Basir's journey from student to acclaimed artist is a testament to the transformative power of education and passion-driven creativity. Reflecting on his time at BNU, Basir remarks, "My time at BNU was an expansion of my mind, ideas, and values. I recall each day as a contribution to the dream that I live today." His experience at BNU laid the foundation for his career as a visual artist, providing him with the necessary skills and inspiration to pursue his passion. Currently self-employed, Basir Mahmood holds the role of Visual Artist, creating thought-provoking works that resonate with audiences worldwide. His dedication to his craft and unique artistic vision have earned him international recognition and numerous prestigious awards. Basir's accolades include the Sesc_Videobrasil residency prize in Brazil (2013), the Emerging Artist Award from SAI Harvard University in the USA (2015), the Abraaj Group Art Prize in Dubai (2016), the VISIO Young Talent Acquisition Prize in Italy (2017), the Paulo Cunha e Silva Art Prize in Portugal (2020), and the Ammodo Tiger Short Award at the Film Festival Rotterdam in The Netherlands (2021). Currently based between Lahore and Amsterdam, Basir Mahmood's work continues to captivate audiences and push the boundaries of contemporary art.
