Beaconhouse National University (BNU) is set to host the UNESCO Conference titled “Culture: The Creative Engine of Economic Growth” on Friday, April 25, 2025. The event is part of BNU’s ongoing, globally recognized UNESCO-funded project focused on strengthening data-driven policymaking for cultural and creative industries in Pakistan.
Funded by the International Fund for Cultural Diversity (IFCD), this project stands among only 11 initiatives selected worldwide from a pool of 610 proposals under IFCD’s 13th Call for Funding. The upcoming conference will gather leading voices in cultural policy and economics, creating a platform for critical discussions on the role of culture in sustainable development. The conference will feature competitively selected paper presentations exploring key themes such as culture as an economic driver, its impact on human capital, its role in economic development, and innovative approaches to measuring culture’s contributions to national growth. Jointly led by Dr. Izza Aftab and Mr. Zaeem Yaqoob Khan, this initiative reinforces BNU’s position at the forefront of cultural research and policy discourse in South Asia, bridging academia, governance, and global development agendas.
