Chairman HEC Dr. Mukhtar Ahmed’s Visit to BNU
The Chairman of Higher Education Commission (HEC), Pakistan visited BNU on April 27, 2017 on an invitation of the Vice Chancellor, Mr. Shahid Hafiz Kardar. In his first ever visit to BNU, Dr. Mukhtar Ahmed met with the Deans, Senior Faculty and Management and addressed an august gathering of faculty, staff and students on the Role of Universities in Higher Education.
During his talk, he emphasized on the role of universities and teachers in personal and professional development and nurturing of characters and virtues such as tolerance and compassion. He stressed on the need for creation of new knowledge and research that would solve the indigenous problems of Pakistan. He said, “The research contributions by faculty besides publications in journals with high impact factor should now have real impact in society”.
Dr. Mukhtar Ahmed also visited the annual thesis exhibition of Mariam Dawood School of Visual Arts & Design (SVAD) at BNU and took keen interest in various projects and artworks on display. He also visited the studio facilities in Razia Hassan School of Architecture (RHSA) at BNU where he interacted with students where he was briefed on the social sensitivities and design interventions being proposed in various student projects even at the rudimentary stage of architectural curriculum. Also present at the occasion were Dr. Gulzar Haider, Dr. Tariq Rahman, Dr. Ruhi Khalid, Dr. Khaver Zia, Dr. Taimur-ul-Hassan and Prof. Rashid Rana.
