SMC organized the first-ever BNU Model United Nations (BUMUN)

School of Media and Mass Communication (SMC) organized the first-ever BNU Model United Nations (BUMUN) from February 1-3, 2017 at BNU Tarogil Campus. Delegates from different educational institutes participated in the event.

The 3-day competition at witnessed an overwhelming delegate representations from both BNU and various educational institutions. Participants from Government College, COMSATS, Punjab University, UMT, LGS EME, Beaconhouse Gujrawala, COMSATS Sahiwal, UET Taxila and many others took part in the event and replicated the UN proceedings; showcasing their understanding of diplomacy and international relations in mock settings.

BUMUN had 7 divisions that come under the categories of Disarmament and International Security committee (DISEC), United Nations Social, Humanitarian and Cultural Committee (SOCHUM), United Nations Entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women (UN Women), United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC), National of Pakistan Assembly (PNA), United Nations Security Council (UNSC) and Game of Thrones (GOT). Each session witnessed an interesting debate with creative perspectives and intriguing proposals put forth by the participants. BUMUN was aimed to help the participants attain the ability to experience and speak about the world through the eyes of another.

The event also included social events including a wonderful drum circle performance, Bonfire, Carnival and a wonderful Live Concert by 'Call' the band.

The competition ended with formal dinner and award ceremony presided by former Director of Operations at Punjab Food Authority, MS. Ayesha Mumtaz and Vice Chancellor BNU, Mr. Shahid Hafiz Kardar. On this occasion, awards were distributed among the winners of different session. University of Management and Technology (UMT) bagged the best delegation award for their remarkable performance in the competition. Speaking to the audience, the Vice Chancellor BNU appreciated the efforts of BNU Debating society for playing a huge part in organizing the event and faculty patron Ms. Misha Mirza for her unprecedented support.
