Young artists received accolades at SVAD Degree Show 2016
Mariam Dawood School of Visual Arts and Design (SVAD), Beaconhouse National University organized its annual degree show of the graduating batch of 2016 from May 28 to June 3, 2016. The exhibition featured works of around 70 graduating students. These young artists belong to the fields of Visual Arts, Visual Communication Design, Textile and Fibre Studies, Fashion and Fibre Studies and Jewelry and Accessory Design.
The Degree Show opened on May 28 at BNU Tarogil Campus. Present on the occasion were Chairperson, Board of Governors BNU, Mrs. Nasreen Mahmud Kasuri, Vice Chancellor BNU, Mr. Shahid Hafiz Kardar, Dean SVAD, Prof. Rashid Rana, Prof. Salima Hashmi, Prof. Naazish Ataullah, Prof. Sajjad Kausar, faculty, graduating students and their parents.
On this occasion, Dean SVAD, Prof. Rashid Rana said that in this year’s thesis, students have surveyed a range of new media, technological tools and contemporary avenues to address historical, political, sociocultural and material concerns. He wished all the best to the graduating students and hoped that will continue to engage with contemporary challenges beyond university, thus carrying forward SVAD’s commitment to excellence in the fields of art and design.
The thesis exhibition continued for a week and art enthusiasts from across various walks of life visited and appreciated the work of students. The students were ecstatic to receive accolades from the visitors. They thanked their teachers and mentors for inspiring them and giving them the freedom to explore their creative side.
This is the tenth batch of undergraduate students graduating from SVAD. Through their impressive work, these graduates have made the institution proud and raised the bar higher for others. We like to wish them all the best and hope that they will contribute to the progress of Pakistan’s art scene.
