The Department of Theatre, Film and Television (TFT) at the School of Media and Mass Communication (SMC) is Pakistan’s first to have pioneered degree programs at the undergraduate and graduate levels to train students to respond to local and global film, TV and theatre needs in the 21st century. TFT’s faculty and students focus on ideological and cultural images and productions to fill intellectual and creative gaps in Theatre, Film and TV. TFT is equipped with USAID- sponsored Film and Music Studios for training frontline professionals in the era of the multiplex through the instantaneous worldwide release (IWR).
The TFT offers a project-based MS in Theatre, Film and Television as well as a four-year baccalaureate degree that focuses on idea generation, psychology of characters, script writing, screenplay, acting, music, production, direction and post production. TFT graduates are employed at media organizations across Pakistan. Young filmmakers and professionals from the TFT regularly participate in national and international film festivals, creating a dialogue about Pakistan’s land, people and culture. In addition, the TFT faculty regularly updates its qualifications and produces the cutting edge film and TV projects and research. It is committed to advancing the plurality of views in accordance with the vision of BNU as a liberal arts university.
I, as TFT HoD, welcome you all to join us to become a part of our ongoing journey to self discovery, creativity and diversity.
